The Department of Microbiology at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level starting August 1, 2011 in the area of Immunology. Candidates with active research programs in mechanisms of host responses to infection, mucosal immunity, as well as other aspects of cellular and molecular immunology are encouraged to apply. The position requires development of a creative, extramurally funded, independent research program and excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to have and maintain a vigorous research program that attracts extramural funding and offers synergism with existing research in the Microbiology Department (www.bio.utk.edu/micro) and within the University. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and one year postdoctoral experience in immunology or host/pathogen interactions.
